dc.description.abstract In the recent years molecular spectra/ have become of increasing importance as these ‎molecules are considered as prospective candidates for laser processes. Studies in the ‎electronic spectra of diatomic molecules have been the main object of investigation in this ‎research project. When we look into the spectra due to transition between two electronic ‎states, it is found comprising of bands which in turn are composed of rotational structure ‎called branches. We are working on the formation of diatomic molecules in the lab and ‎investigate their electronic spectra comprising of the bands and rotational lines. The analysis ‎of these spectra is carried out so as establish the electronic to obtain their molecular constants. ‎Molecules like Li 2 ,Na 2 and k2 formed one kink of studies made in absorption by us in this ‎project. The absorption spectra of these molecules led us to identify new electronic states in ‎Na 2 and K2. A-X Systems of the LiH ,NaH and KH were studied in absorption and ‎extension in the spectra had been recoded.which gave us new vibrational states of A states. ‎This information wil lead to the accurate construction of potential curves.Ultravoilet spectrum ‎of BaH was another problem of our research interest. Absproption spectrum of BaH has been ‎recorded and analysed. The graphical and computer methods have been used to do the ‎analysis. The software was developed in the lab.‎ Modification of directly heated steel tube furnace done in this project period king-type ‎furnace that these are unique in the country to undertake meaningful absorption studies. ‎These studies revealed quite significant findings in the form of new electronic and vibrational ‎states. ‎ en_US
