dc.description.abstract Oxytetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic frequently used in veterinary practice against many infectious diseases. The present study was designed to evaluate the pharmaceutical equivalence of various short acting, PVP and long acting brands of oxytetracycline hydrochloride available in market through HPLC. Dilutions of all the drugs were prepared in acetonitrile and 0.15M sodium acetate (1:1) to obtain final concentrations of 100, 50, 25, 10,1.0 ,0.5, 0.1, and 0.05µg per ml. C-18 column was used and mobile phase was the mixture of 0.15 M sodium acetate and acetonitrile (50:50 v/v). Injection volume was 20µl and flow rate was 1ml/minute. The Limits of detection and quantification calculated were 0.100(µg/ml) and 0.5(µg/ml) respectively. The acceptable percentage value of assay was 90-120%. The concentration of active ingredient (Oxytetracycline hydrochloride) in all preparations was in range except Terrasym PVP-100 (81%) and Onyx-LA (72%). en_US
