Decay of a whistler wave in a hot-ion plasma

Abstract

The decay of a whistler wave into an electron acoustic wave and a lower hybrid wave in a hot-ion plasma is considered. The growth rate of the decay instability is calculated and shown to be comparable to those of other parametric instabilities.
