Abstract:
The genus Hoplolaimus Daday, 1905 is characterized by having shield-like phasmids or scutella. These are generally present on either side of the vulva in the lateral fields. Besides this however, in some species of this genus, like H. puertoricensis Ramirez, 1964, both phasmids are prevulvl; whereas H. californicus Sher, 1963 and H. tabacum Firoza, Nasira & Maqbool, 1990 are characterized by having both phasmids posterior to the vulva.
