Abstract:
Root samples of cultivated ornamental plants were collected from different nurseries, greenhouses and lath-houses in Egypt. Roots of each plant were examined by stereomicroscope for the presence of galls and egg masses of root-knot nematodes. Mature females of root-knot nematodes were dissected from galled tissue of the roots; perineal patterns of the females were then prepared and identified to Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid & White, 1919) Chitwood, 1949 according to Eisenback et al., (1981). Gall index (GI) and egg mass index (EMI) were rated on a 0-5 scale (Taylor & Sasser, 1978).
