dc.description.abstract Bioassay directed isolation studies on solanum surrattense have resulted in the isolation of three steroidal alkaloids namely, acetyl-solasodine (1), khasianine (2) and solamargine (3) from the ethyl acetate soluble fraction. Compounds 1-3 showed moderate inhibitory activity against the enzyme urease. In addition, coumarin (4),, cinnamic acid (5), lupeol (6), betulin (7), 3,5,7- trihydroxy-6,4´-dimethoxyflavone (8), β-sitosterol 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (9), 3′,4′,5- trihydroxyflavone 7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (10) have also been isolated, identified by NMR and showed no inhibitory activity against the enzyme urease. en_US
