dc.description.abstract |
1,4-Dihydroxy anthraquinone (quinizarin) has been synthesised with two different precursors’ p-chlorophenol and hydroquinone by condensation of phthalic anhydride. It has been noticed that p-chlorophenol gave higher yield as compared to hydroquinone on reaction with phthalic anhydride at 200°C within 3:30 hours in a mixture of concentrated H₂SO₄ and boric acid. Three disperse dyes have been prepared from the quinizarin. The physical properties of three different colored dyes have also been discussed. |
