Abstract:
The present work deals with the oxidation of glucose to gluconic acid over bimetallic (Pd-Bi) catalysts supported on glassy carbon. The 10-25 µg/g quantities of Pd and Bi was supported on glassy carbon by means of electro-deposition. The results obtained during conversion of glucose used in bimetallic catalysts play an important role in chemical processes. Supported Palladium catalysts are characterized by high selectivity in the oxidation reaction. The catalysts used in these experiments were synthesized in the laboratory. The salts of gluconic acid with iron and zinc were also synthesized and characterized on the basis of UV/Vis, IR and AAS techniques. These compounds have wide applications in food and pharmaceutical industry
